UCAN Power Congratulates Key Founders and Advisors

The United Coalition for Advanced Nuclear Power congratulates several of its leaders for being considered or appointed to essential positions in the new administration. Further, UCAN Power is pleased to announce the election of officers for our Board of Directors.

UCAN Power’s most recent Board Chairman, the Honorable Ted Garrish, was nominated by President Trump to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy. Also nominated for a top DOE position was Wells Griffith, who has been a member of UCAN Power’s Advisory Board and, pending Senate confirmation, will serve as the DOE Under Secretary for Energy. Further, a UCAN Power Board member and Founder, Michael Duffey, has been nominated to one of the highest positions within the Department of Defense, the Under Secretary of Acquisition and Sustainment. Finally, Brian McCormack, a Principal and Founder of UCAN Power, has joined the administration as the Chief of Staff for the National Security Council.

The entire UCAN Power team wishes Ted, Wells, and Michael all the best as they work through the confirmation process, and to Brian for his efforts to safeguard our nation. The UCAN Power team is honored to be associated with such outstanding public servants. Despite their departure, we will continue to apply our expertise and experience in efforts to raise awareness and develop policies for the nuclear industry.

As we look forward to new opportunities to work with the Executive Branch and Congress on our action plans to promote the deployment of advanced nuclear reactors, UCAN Power is pleased to announce new assignments and members of its Board of Directors. Kimberly VanWyhe, a current Board member, has been elected to serve as Chair of the Board, and two new members, Dominique Cooper and Tim Frazier, have joined the Board. Biographies for Kimberly, Dominique, and Tim highlight their impressive professional experiences and can be found here.

UCAN Power, a nonpartisan, consensus-based, non-profit trade association, serves as the voice within the nuclear community that is focused solely on the deployment of advanced nuclear reactors across the spectrum of civil and military applications. UCAN Power will continue to offer the administration, Congress, and key stakeholders recommendations to accelerate the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies to meet national defense, civil power, and energy security needs.
